Goerli's Deprecation: Navigating the Transition to Sepolia
Important announcement regarding Goerli's deprecation and guidance on transitioning to Ethereum Sepolia for DApp testing and development.
We're here to announce an important update regarding the Ethereum ecosystem: the deprecation of the Goerli Network and its transition to Sepolia.
The Goerli testnet, which has been vital to the Ethereum development ecosystem, will no longer be supported or maintained by the Ethereum Foundation. Support for Goerli across all networks, including Layer-2 networks that depend on Goerli, will soon end. Major RPC providers have already initiated measures to discontinue their support. Consequently, BuildBear will terminate its support for the following test networks from March 15th:
- Ethereum Goerli
- Arbitrum Goerli
- Polygon Mumbai
Introducing Sepolia Testnet
Sepolia has replaced Rinkeby, Kovan, and now Goerli, offering a proof-of-authority testnet with higher efficiency, improved scalability, and lower transaction fees.
Users currently utilizing Goerli-based networks such as Ethereum Goerli are advised to migrate to Ethereum Sepolia for their development and testing needs. We currently support Ethereum Sepolia, and we are actively working to expand to other networks such as Arbitrum Sepolia and Polygon Amoy.
Next Steps
We understand this transition may pose some inconvenience. We recommend shifting from Ethereum Goerli to Ethereum Sepolia. Stay tuned as we roll out support for additional Sepolia-based testnets soon.
